About this event

Welcome to DTP: Thousand Oaks, CA

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A VIRTUAL MEETING

Welcome to the Divorce Transition Professionals (DTP)

DTP was founded in 2017. Our primary Mission Statement that still holds true today is:

Making Divorce Just a Little Bit Easier™

We believe that this can be accomplished by bringing together amazing professionals all of whom have expertise in the divorce landscape and all of whom understand what it means to collaborate.

At each chapter meeting we bring you a top-notch speaker or program, providing on-going education, and an opportunity to network and collaborate with some of the best divorce professionals in your community. Our meetings are typically an hour. We respect that you are a busy professional and are sure to provide a compelling, productive meeting, the ultimate results of which will meet our goal of supporting folks as they go through divorce and in growing your business, concurrently.

This event is completely free to all FIRST-TIME attendees. It is an opportunity to learn more about the Divorce Transition Professionals. If you are a professional with divorce expertise, please check us out.

There is nothing like DTP!

This Month's Program

Michael Guerrero, Eldercare Resource Planning
www.eldercareresourceplanning.org
833-260-4445
michael@eldercareresourceplanning.org

Michael Guerrero is the CEO of Eldercare Resource Planning and a Certified Medicaid Planner with deep expertise in Medicaid long-term care eligibility, spousal protections, and asset-separation strategies. He helps couples—married, separated, or divorced—navigate the financial and legal challenges that arise when one spouse needs long-term care, including the impact of divorce on eligibility and community spouse protections. Michael also guides families and professionals on Medicaid Divorce considerations, Medicaid-compliant annuities, and other planning tools that preserve assets and reduce long-term care costs.

This presentation will provide a broad understanding of the common scenarios we encounter in Medicaid planning for couples or divorcees. The chief question we will address is the impact of divorce on Medicaid eligibility. We will look at relevant case law and federal law concerning spousal protections when an individual requires financial assistance for long-term care. We will also delve into the common but often little-used concept of Medicaid Divorce. Furthermore, we will explore strategies for separating financial assets with an eye toward maintaining Medicaid eligibility. Finally, we will examine the use of Medicaid-compliant annuities and discuss whether divorce might be avoided or delayed to save on long-term care costs.
